If you’re not familiar with opening and using the fix‑up panel, please read Using the fix‑up tool in Artworker first.
Enable the fix‑up – Open the fix‑up panel for your PDF and, under the Colour section, switch on Embed output intent profile.
Select the ICC profile – From the ICC profile drop‑down, choose the colour profile you want to embed. Artworker includes common printing profiles such as ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI).
Apply the fix‑up – Click Apply and create fix‑up. Artworker will generate a new version of your PDF with the selected output intent profile embedded.
Review and accept – When processing is complete, review the changes in the preview window. If you’re satisfied, select Accept fix‑up to replace the original file; otherwise discard the fix‑up to keep the source file unchanged.
After generating the fix‑up, you can confirm that the output intent profile has been correctly embedded by opening the preflight report in the preview. In the Document section of the report, look for the Output intents field – it should list the name of the ICC profile you selected (e.g. ISO Coated v2 300% (ECI)). This provides assurance that the PDF now includes the desired output intent profile.
You’re preparing artwork for a specific printing condition (e.g. coated or uncoated stock) and want the press to interpret colours correctly.
The PDF currently lacks an embedded colour profile and may produce unpredictable results on press.
A client has requested a file compliant with a particular ISO standard.
By embedding a suitable output intent profile and verifying it in the preflight report, you help ensure consistent colour reproduction across different devices and print environments.
