Wherever you see a file in Artworker, you’ll find a Fix‑up option:
Files page – In the Files section of the app, each row in the file list has a elipses (three‑dot) menu. Click it and choose Fix‑up under the Edit heading.
Job page – Within a job, open the Files tab. Each file has a similar elipses menu; select Fix‑up from there.
File viewer – When reviewing artwork in the file viewer, the top bar has a Fix‑up option under the Edit menu, allowing you to run fix‑ups while inspecting individual pages.
Wherever you start, the fix‑up panel opens in the same way and offers the same options.
The fix‑up tool works with PDFs. If your artwork is another format (AI, PSD, JPG etc.), convert it to PDF first by selecting Convert to PDF from the same menu. Once converted, the Fix‑up option becomes available.
When you open the fix‑up panel, Artworker displays a thumbnail for each page and selects them all by default. Each thumbnail has its own checkbox; untick any pages you don’t want to adjust. The fix‑up will only be applied to the pages that remain ticked. There’s also a single “select all” checkbox if you need to toggle all pages at once.
Enable the toggle for the desired fix‑up.
If prompted, enter any required values (for example, bleed amount, page size, etc.).
Click Apply and create fix‑up at the bottom of the panel.
After you apply a fix‑up, Artworker begins generating a new version of your PDF. A modal window appears summarising the changes (for example, “Removing print marks” or “Adding crop marks”) and showing a progress indicator. Large or complex PDFs may take a few minutes to process. You can close this window and continue working on other jobs if you don’t want to wait; Artworker will continue processing in the background.
Once generation is complete, a preview window opens. The preview shows the original file on one tab and the fix‑up on another, along with a sidebar listing:
Pages updated – which pages were modified.
Fix‑ups applied – which fix‑ups were used.
You can scroll through the pages to compare the original and edited versions. When you’re satisfied, click Accept fix‑up to replace the original file with the new version. If you’re not happy with the results, click Discard fix‑up, use original to keep the original file unchanged.
The fix‑up tool may be unavailable while a proof is awaiting customer approval, to prevent unintended edits.
Fix‑ups apply only to PDFs; convert other file types first.
Some fix‑ups require numerical inputs (e.g. width and height for resizing). These fields are marked as required.
By following these steps and knowing where to find the Fix‑up option, you can quickly make common pre‑press adjustments from any part of Artworker.
